Steven Surman is a freelance writer and journalist who has contributed several articles to a number of print publications, including The Humanist and A&U Magazine. Additionally, many of his writings have been published on a variety of Web sites, among them Broken Frontier and Demand Media. His portfolio is eclectic in its subject matters and styles, collecting a wide assortment of: articles, reviews, essays, interviews, and blogs.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English from Bloomsburg University and an associate degree in mass media communications from Penn College, Surman finished his first book: an exposé of Wal-Mart tentatively titled Wal-Mart Confidential: Dispatches from America’s Retail Empire. The book tells the unflinching story of Surman’s retail journey to discover the quality of jobs at Wal-Mart the only way possible: by becoming a Wal-Mart employee himself!
