As of 7:00 a.m. this morning, Sunday, 20 April 2025, I received the following email in my inbox concerning my Life And Trust NYC show tomorrow:
Dearest Guest,

We will begin processing refunds immediately, and you can reach us at [I’ve decided to withhold the email address].

A post was made on the Life And Trust NYC subreddit within minutes of this email going out:
I just got tickets to experience this for the first time and got this email. Is this real? What happened?

Sprinkled throughout this post were comments from an individual who purportedly had some knowledge of the situation, but those comments have since been deleted.
From what I recall of these comments, the individual claimed that:
- The cancellation/closure email is genuine
- No one is/was physically hurt concerning this sudden announcement
- The closure was as abrupt and shocking for those working for Life And Trust NYC as much as it is for fans and patrons
My Thoughts…
I have zero insider knowledge, but if this is genuinely true (and all information is pointing to yes at the time of this writing), I can only guess that one of two things happened:
- Either there’s some kind of legal/creative battle behind the scenes that no one is privy to, and it boiled over at some point last night.
- Or there was sudden damage to the set to such an extent that it was not financially viable to close the show down, invest in rebuilding and/or repairing, and then open it back out.
But these are purely guesses on my part.
I will say that I’ve attended Life and Trust NYC during the week a fair amount over the past couple of months, and the crowds were rather light. Being a somewhat cynical guy, I saw that as a sign the show might not make it two years, with June 2025 being the one-year anniversary of preview performances for Life and Trust NYC starting.
But I highly doubt finances alone are the cause of this.
Even if the show was truly struggling, the obvious business decision would be announcing a true closure and trying to pump sales as much as possible until the performance shuttered for good.
But that’s not what happened here.
Life And Trust performances happened yesterday, 19 April 2025, and today is Easter Sunday. So it’s all very strange, sudden, and ominous timing for an announcement like this.
I’ll do my best to document more on this as I find out new information.
